Many people find it important that their shoes not only look nice but also feel comfortable. This is one of the reasons why many people wear Crocs. Healthcare workers in particular are keen on the synthetic shoes. But how good are Crocs for your feet really? Ok, you can probably walk around in them all day, but are they healthy for your feet or not? Do the pros of Crocs outweigh the cons or vice versa? We tell you in this blog!

Are Crocs good for your feet?

Actually, there is no simple answer to this question. Yes, Crocs have many benefits, but that does not mean there are no disadvantages. How healthy Crocs are for you mainly has to do with any health problems you may have and the kind of activities you do while wearing Crocs. If you know that you need a lot of foot support, Crocs are less suitable. If you're just looking for a simple shoe that feels good to wear, Crocs are a good option.

Are Crocs comfortable?

Crocs are made of a special material called: Croslite. It is a synthetic material and not rubber nor plastic as is often thought. The benefit of Croslite is that it is a light material, so the shoes don't weigh heavy on your feet. On average, Crocs only weigh 150 grams! You can imagine that many people who work in healthcare are fans of Crocs, because they can walk in them comfortably all day long. Not only do Crocs walk very softly, but the cushions in the sole also stimulate the blood circulation in your feet. This means that you are less likely to suffer from sleeping feet. In addition, Crocs are ideally for people with wide feet. The fit is wider than other shoes, so they do not pinch easily.

Benefits of Crocs

We have already mentioned one of the biggest benefits of Crocs: comfort. But Crocs have many more advantages. For example, thanks to the Croslite material, the loafers are not only lightweight, but also antibacterial. Therefore you can wear them barefoot without fear of developing foot fungus. In addition, the ventilation holes allow your feet to ventilate well, which means that you are less likely to get sweaty feet. Have you gotten your Crocs dirty? Just wipe them with a wet cloth and you're done. Last but not least, they are quick and easy to put on and take off, which is always a good thing.

Disadvantages Crocs

Despite their many benefits, Crocs also have a few disadvantages. They do not provide much support at the heel, which means that you have to overcompensate with your toes. In order to get extra grip, you dig your toes into the ground. In the long run, this can lead to infections and nail problems. Therefore it is very important that you never wear Crocs for more than 8-10 hours a day. Also, Crocs are not suitable for very intensive activities because of the wide fit. If you have small feet, the loafers are less secure around your feet and can cause you to stumble or fall more easily.

To wear or not to wear Crocs?

It all depends on how long you are going to wear them, what kind of activities you are going to do and what your feet need. A trip to the supermarket is no problem and even for a day at the hospital, Crocs are just fine. If, on the other hand, you are going to be spending a whole day walking in the dunes, for example, then Crocs are not recommended. You also run the risk of developing foot problems, when you plan to wear the Crocs for more than 8-10 hours in one day.
