December is all about parties, unwrapping presents, and eating a lot. Now the fun is over, and it is time to get ready for the new year. You have probably already made your new year’s resolutions, but even if you haven’t, it is nice to freshly start the new year. Put all the December stress aside, these 10 tips will help you radiantly start off the new year.

#1 New outfit

The sales period is in full swing, and what is better than starting the year with a new outfit?! That cute little dress may have dropped in price, or your favourite trainers are on an absolute steal. During the sales, you always find a little gem that makes you happy. The happier you are, the more radiant you will be in the new year.

#2 Beauty treatment

Past month you probably forgot to take off your makeup and cleanse your face before going to bed, plus all those alcoholic beverages did not do any good for your skin. Having a radiant start becomes a lot easier with a fresh look. You can book a treatment at your local beautician, but a refreshing facial mask will do the trick as well.

#3 Yoga

December is always a hectic month. Late nights, lack of sleep, a lot of food: these do not do any good for your looks. It is not surprising that you are not happy with your face by the end of the month. A yoga lesson will help you to experience less stress and reduce worrying. That will make you feel a lot better about yourself. How you feel on the inside shows on the outside and you are off to a radiant start.

#4 Tidying and cleaning

A house full of Christmas decorations makes everything look very festive, but let’s be honest, it causes a lot of rubbish as well. Christmas decorations linger everywhere, you lose everything in this chaos and you can’t remember the last time you did some proper cleaning. A clean and tidy house clears your head, so take the Christmas decorations off, do a lot of cleaning and you and your home will be ready for a radiant new year.

#5 Change your interior

Now that you’re busy with cleaning and tidying your home, you may as well continue. A fresh interior does magic and will boost your energy levels. Of course, you can buy this very expensive couch, but after your December spendings, you’ve probably run out of money. Fortunately, spending tons of money is not a requirement. Just a few minor alterations will do the trick as well. Move your furniture and put a few new pillows on your couch. We bet your living room will feel as new!

#6 Relaxation massage

Relaxation, that’s what makes us happy. A massage will make you forget the December stress and ensures you start off the new year feeling completely relaxed. All within one hour! After your full body massage, you feel totally zen, and you are ready to handle everything. Book a massage at a salon or kindly ask your partner for a DIY.

#7 New hairdo

A new year, a new hairdo. Visiting your hairdresser will make you feel fresh. Try a different hair colour or have a great cut. Is this too risky for you? A radical transformation is not necessary to make you look radiant; just having your hair trimmed or curled works as well.

#8 Balance week

Eating and drinking, a lot of eating and drinking, we did plenty of these last month. A balance-week, or month -Dry January!- will do no harm for a radiant start of the year. Of course, you don’t have to go on a strict diet at once, but watch what you eat and drink for a week. Buy healthy food and ignore cookies, sweets and alcohol.

#9 Get some fresh air

You may think we’ve gone mad given the wintery temperatures, but fresh outdoor air makes you feel a lot better. It’s nice to go outside after spending your Christmas at home. Fresh air is great for your mind and body. Do you love going to the woodlands for a nice walk? If you are not into walking, you may be a cycling-girl? Whatever you enjoy doing, a warm winter coat will help you deal with the temperatures.

#10 Find a new hobby

Putting yourself in the first place, that’s what we tend to forget during the year. Having me-time is essential and will give you tons of energy. Find a new hobby: hobbies are essential for having me-time. Go fishing, play with your My Little Pony’s, start painting or pottery: it doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you have fun. You’ll notice a rise in your energy levels, and you feel yourself smiling all day.
